135 LB Contender Ray Beltran – Lightweight Raymundo Beltran (31-7-1) returns to the ring for the third time in 2016 this coming December 2nd at the SaveMart Arena in Fresno, California. His opponent is yet to be finalized, by Beltran’s match will likely appear on the UniMas broadcast that promoter Top Rank is planning for that evening.
Beltran is known for his two world title bids where he was given a controversial draw in an attempt to win the WBO world title at 135 pounds against Ricky Burns in England in September of 2013. He later battled titleholder Terence Crawford in Crawford’s hometown of Omaha, Nebraska, losing a twelve round unanimous decision. A third bid at a belt, in May of 2015 agaist Japan’s Takahiro Ao ended for Beltran at the scales when he failed to make weight, and he was suspended after the fight for a violation of the PED regulations.
Despite the setbacks, the hard working Beltran remains focused on his goal of fighting his way back into the title picture. This December 2nd match-up is his next step.
