Eleider Alvarez Stops Sergey Kovalev to Win The WBO World Light Heavyweight Championship.

This Saturday August 04, the WBO light heavyweight champion Sergey “Krusher” Kovalev (32-3-1, 28 KOs) defended his belt against Colombia’s Eleider “Storm” Alvarez (24-0, 12 KOs), the event took place at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City and was televised by HBO.

Alvarez shocked the boxing world and knocked Kovalev out in the 7th round with a strong right hand. After three knockdowns, there was a new champ left standing in the light heavyweight division.

In the co-main event, Dmitry Bivol defeated Isaac Chilemba by unanimous decision to retain his WBA world light heavyweight belt.
