Beibut Shumenov: “I’m Ready to Battle Anytime, It’s in my Soul, in my DNA, I’m a Warrior”
Beibut Shumenov (18-2, 12 KOs) defeated Hizni Altunkaya (30-2, 17 KOs) by a 9th round knockout on Saturday July 7 to capture the vacant World Boxing Association cruiserweight title at the Barys Arena in Astana, Kazakhstan. The 34-year-old Shumenov, was returning from a two-year layoff.
In June 2017, Shumenov had retired at the age of 33 because of an eye injury. This retirement would be short-lived, as he returned in July to win back the title.
