Nicaragua’s Cristofer Rosales Defeats Daigo Higa In A War – Sunday April 15th at the Yokohama Arena in Japan. Nicaragua’s Cristofer “Latigo” Rosales (27-3-0, 18 KOs) faced Japan’s previously unbeaten Daigo Higa (15-1-0, 15 KOs) with the vacant WBC world super flyweight title on the line.
Higa forfeited the belt after coming in two pounds over the 112-pound limit on Saturday for his title defense against Rosales. The fight was stopped by Higa’s corner in the 9th round after he had taken some left-right combinations from Rosales on the outside. Higa was backing up all night long from the shots from Rosales. Higa didn’t have the height or reach to deal with Rosales’ size. The Nicaraguan fighter was able to nail Higa with shots whenever the two were on the outside.
Rosales entered the match as a huge underdog, Higa had stopped all fighters he had previously faced. Cristofer used his six inch reach advantage to get the better of Daigo.
