Wilder last fought in March of this year, knocking out Luis Ortiz at 2:05 of the 10thround. Wilder has been looking forward to this fight against Fury, believing a win will help define his career.
Fury defeated Wladimir Klitschko by unanimous decision in November of 2015, winning the IBF, WBA, and WBO belts. He later was stripped of the belts due to a failed drug test, and took two years off in order to work through personal issues. He returned in June of 2018 to beat Sefer Seferi, who refused to come out for the fifth round. Two months later, Fury beat Francesco Pianeta.
