Sergiy Derevyanchenko and Daniel Jacobs both made weight today for tomorrow’s title fight. Derevyanchenko (12-0, 10 KOs) weighed in at 159.4 pounds and Jacobs (34-2, 29 KOs) weighed in at 159.6 pounds. They will be fighting for the vacant International Boxing Federation middleweight title at the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York.
It is important to note that the IBF has a secondary weigh-in on the morning of the fight, allowing each fighter to gain no more than 10 pounds above their division’s limit. Then, they can add as much weight as they are comfortable with prior to entering the ring.
The fighters for the four other bouts scheduled on the HBO event also made weight today.
Puerto Rico’s Alberto Machado (20-0, 16 KOs) officially weighed in at 130 pounds for his WBA world super featherweight title defense against Yuandale Evans (20-1, 14 KOs). Cleveland’s Evans weighed in at 129¼ pounds.
New York’s Heather Hardy (21-0, 4 KOs, 1 NC) weighed 124½ pounds for her 10-round rematch with Shelly Vincent (23-1, 1 KO) for the vacant WBO women’s featherweight title. Vincent, of Providence, Rhode Island, officially weighed 125¼ pounds as well.
HBO will televise the event this Saturday at 10:00 p.m. ET.
