Showtime Boxing Features Russell Jr vs Escandon Saturday – The Premier Boxing Champions and Showtime are hooking up in Oxon Hill, Maryland this Saturday night for a big night of fights that sees the return of WBC world featherweight champion Gary Russell Jr as he defends his belt against Oscar Escandon.
Russell Jr has not been in action since April of 2016 when he stopped Patrick Hyland in grand fashion after two rounds. This match-up with Escandon was originally scheduled to open the luxurious new MGM National Harbor’s boxing schedule back on March 11th but that show was postponed due to an injury on the part of Escandon.
The card also sees an interim IBF world title at super middleweight at play over 12 rounds between Andre Dirrell and Jose Uzcategui. Former two-division world titlist Rances Barthelemy is also on the card in super lightweight action as he faces once-beaten Kiryl Relikh.
