Carl Frampton Versus Nonito Donaire Breakdown With Lotierzo – Saturday, April 21st, The SSE Arena in Belfast, Northern Ireland, sees former world champion in two weight classes Carl “The Jackal” Frampton battling former world champion in four weight classes Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire for the interim WBO world featherweight title. This is a “make or break” fight for both men.
Frampton fought Horacio Garcia last November. The match wasn’t Carl’s best performance: he decisioned a brave and tough opponent in Garcia after 10 rounds. The three judges’ scored the fight 98-93, 97-93 and 98-93. Some people saw the fight closer, but Frampton won nonetheless. Also, we have to remember Carl had dropped the WBA featherweight title to Leo Santa Cruz in January of 2017.
Donaire, 35, was once considered one of the best pound for pound fighters in the world. Of course, that was before he lost to Guillermo Rigondeaux in a match where Nonito was completely outboxed. Since then, he had some wins and some losses, including a fight against Nicholas Walters where the Filipino ended up getting knocked out cold.
On this segment our boxing analyst Frank Lotierzo gives his take on Frampton vs. Donaire.
