Coach Edward Jackson Talks Jermall Charlo – Former IBF world 154-pound champion Jermall Charlo moved his record to a perfect 26-0 this past July 29th at the Barclays Center when he stopped Argentina’s Jorge Sebastian Heiland in four rounds.
Charlo was making his first appearance in the 160-pound weight class and the match against Heiland was a showcase. Some of the luster from the win was taken away when it was revealed that Heiland had likely entered the bout injured. Nevertheless, Charlo was efficient in getting the job done and he feels confident that he can be a player in the middleweight division. Charlo has the winner of the September 16th bout between Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin in mind as a future opponent and the win over Heiland made him the #1 contender for the WBC’s world middleweight title.
