The Stub Hub Center in Carson, CA will be the venue for the bout on September 28 between Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Brian Vera. The fight is scheduled for 12 rounds. Chavez Jr. is coming off the only loss of his career as he begins the process of trying to get another title shot after losing the WBC middleweight belt to Sergio Gabriel Martinez one year ago.

The 27 year old Chavez Jr. has a career record of 46-1 with boxing picks and that lone defeat was in his last bout as he lost a 12 round unanimous decision against Sergio Gabriel Martinez for the WBC middleweight title that Chavez was defending for the 5th time. Martinez was knocked down once in the 12th round and later went down a second time but it was ruled a slip and not a knockdown by the referee Tony Weeks. The bout took place at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas on September 15, 2012.

Chavez hails from Culiacan, Mexico where he has lived his entire life. He stands at 6 feet tall and has a reach of 73 inches with an orthodox stance.

Prior to that loss he was a technical knockout winner over Andy Lee at the Sun Bowl in El Paso, TX in the 7th round of a scheduled 12 round bout for the WBC middleweight title.

He originally defeated Sebastian Zbik for the WBC middleweight title on June 4, 2011 and had subsequent title defense wins against Peter Manfredo, Jr. and Marco Antonio Rubio.

Brian Vera
The 31 year old Brian Vera has a career record of 23 wins and 6 losses. Of his 23 wins 14 were by knockout as 2 of his 6 losses were by knockout. He stands at 5 feet 11 inches tall with a reach of 73 inches and lives in Austin, TX.

Vera is coming off a RTD win over Donatas Bondorovas for the WBO NABO middleweight title in the 7th round of a scheduled 10 round bout .

Chavez has had a year to stew over his loss and will come out with fire and a win!
