Looking at the Legacy of Shane Mosley

Looking at the Legacy of Shane Mosley – Shane Mosley announced his formal retirement from boxing earlier today, walking away after a career that spanned approximately a quarter century.

Mosley leaves with a mark of 49-10-1, including 41 wins by way of knock out. He held world titles at lightweight and welterweight and his resume of opponents reads like a who’s who of the era. His opponents include the likes of Floyd Mayweather Jr, Oscar De La Hoya, Vernon Forrest, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Miguel Cotto just to name a few. Mosley last fought in May of 2016 when he was 44 years old. That fight saw him lose to David Avanesyan, a fighter more than a dozen years younger, with the WBA interim version of the welterweight world title on the line.
