Looking at the WBSS 168-pound tourney with Frank Lotierzo – The World Boxing Super Series is scheduled to make its debut in September as they open a pair of eight man, single elimination tournaments in the cruiserweight and super middleweight divisions.
The tournaments are set to kick off in September and both are scheduled to end by mid-year of 2018. The 168-pound tournament has four fighters from Great Britain, including three of the top four seeds. The top seed is Britain’s George Groves, who recently won the WBA’s version of the world title in the weight class and faces countryman Jamie Cox in the opening round. Depending how things work out, there is the possibility Groves could face two other Brits on his way to a tournament win. The first round pairings are listed below.
Super Middleweight Super Series Opening Round:
#1 George Groves (UK) vs Jamie Cox (UK)
#3 Chris Eubank Jr (UK) vs Avni Yildirim (Turkey)
#2 Callum Smith (UK) vs Erik Skoglund (Sweden)
#4 Juergen Braehmer (Germany) vs Rob Brant (USA)
