Michael Carbajal Talks Boxing Now and Then – Former light flyweight world champion Michael Carbajal is one of the inductees for the 2017 Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame inaugural class. The induction ceremonies are scheduled for this weekend and Carbajal was on hand at Caesar’s Palace for the Friday evening Meet and Greets.
Carbajal left boxing with a fine 49-4 record, including 33 wins by way of knock out. Carbajal last fought in July of 1999 when he stopped Jorge Arce to win the WBO world title at 108 pounds. Carbajal also held IBF and WBC versions of the light flyweight title and his trilogy of fights with Humberto “Cihiquita” Gonzalez are among the most talked about and remembered fights from the 1990’s. Carbajal as inducted into the Canastota, New York International Boxng Hall of Fame with their 2006 induction class.
