Persoon vs Aquino DQ Ending – The WBC world female lightweight title fight scheduled for West Vlaanderen, Belgium on this past Friday night ended in an unsatisfying 1st round disqualification that did not sit well with the fans. It was the sixth defense of Delfine Persoon’s WBC world belt as she was facing Ruth Stephanie Aquino of Argentina, who apparently outgunned, went to the canvas without receiving a blow, causing the referee to issue the disqualification.
In other high level women’s action, Kouraken Hall in Tokyo, Japan hosted a match at 102 pounds billed as the “Atomweight” title by the WBC between Momo Koseki (22-2-1) and Chie Higan0 (6-4) that ended in a title win by 4th round TKO in favor of the more experienced Koseki.

Persoon’s quote from Belgian media:
“I want to apologize to my supporters for this show of bad taste,” said Delfine Persoon after the fight. “Some have paid 150 euros to see the fight, it’s outrageous that it ends like this, and I immediately felt that she did not really come for boxing, she fell at the end of the first round without ever having been really touched, it was a shame that the referee had disqualified her, I would have preferred a time out, it was a pity, I felt good and I wanted to please the public. I would have preferred being beaten myself, it is scandalous.”
