Quick Results From Germany March 11 – WBA world super welterweight champion Jack Culcay faced undefeated challenger Demetrius Andrade on Saturday night in Germany.

Andrade, a former U.S. Olympian in 2008 who had gone 23-0 as a pro and already held a world title in the super welterweight division was a heavy favorite entering the fight despite fighting on the road. Though Andrade was the taller and longer fighter, Culcay was never hurt and he worked back in the later rounds to make a credible showing. In the end, however, Culcay fell short in the eyes of the judges, losing a split decision.

Andrade returns to the United States with one of the major world titles at 154 pounds. The WBA keeps a “Super” champion and that is Erislandy Lara, but Andrade mentioned undefeated prospect Erickson Lubin as a potential next opponent.
