Rest in Peace Alex Stewart – On November 16th, the boxing world lost Alex “The Destroyer” Stewart at the age of 52. Stewart is remembered as one of the hardest hitters in the heavyweight division of the late 1980’s and into the 90’s.
Though he never competed for a world title, he fought some of the era’s most accomplished fighters including George Foreman, Evander Holyfield and Mike Tyson. The feared Stewart scored 40 of his 43 wins by way of knockout and was stopped seven times in his 10 losses. He came to fight and it was knockout or be knocked out most of the time. A crowd pleaser in the ring, Stewart is also remembered for his mild mannered demeanor outside the ring.
Farewell Alex Stewart, you will be missed.
