Stevenson Waxes Fonfara in Montreal – Last night on Showtime Boxing WBC world light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson showed little mercy in his eighth title defense as he stopped rival Andrzej Fonfara early in round 2.

Fonfara took a huge shot to the temple in the first round that he was not able to recover from. His corner, led by respected veteran trainer Virgil Hunter, called for the referee to stop the fight in the early going of round 2 when it was clear Fonfara did not have his wits about him. Stevenson made short work of Fonfara in the rematch after being dragged the distance by “The Polish Prince” in their first tussle back in May of 2014.

The co-feature saw undefeated Colombian light heavyweight Eleider Alvarez stay that way as he won a majority decision victory over long time contender Jean Pascal.
