Uchiyama vs Corrales II Hits Dec 31 – The first meeting resulted in an “Upset of the Year” candidate as Panama’s Jezreel Corrales traveled to Japan last April to face unbeaten, long-time WBA “super world” super featherweight champion Takashi Uchiyama. In less than two rounds the major underdog Corrales had knocked out the formidable Uchiyama, who had held the world title going on six years and was mentioned on many of the top 10 pound for pound lists. That all came to an end at the hands of Corrales.

Uchiyama had been undefeated at 24-0-1 when he ran into Corrales, and here he is looking to regain past glories. Uchiyama is 37 years old now, but he has earned a rematch because of his pedigree.

The fight is the main event of Watanabe Productions seven-fight boxing card scheduled for Saturday, December 31st at the Ota-City Gymnasium in Tokyo. The card also counts on a second title fight as Ryoichi Taguchi (25-2-1) defends his WBO world light flyweight title against Venezuela’s undefeated Carlos Canizales (16-0).
