This Saturday, January 16th, the Barclay's Center in Brooklyn, New York hosts a full 10 fight boxing card promoted by DiBella Promotions. The featured bouts air on Showtime in the United States.
The main event features the WBC Heavyweight World title tussle between champion Deontay Wilder and Artur Szpilka.
Right now, the sport books have Deontay Wilder a (-1000) favorite, with Szpilka returning at (+650). The over/under for the 12 round bout is set at 9 ½, with the over paying (+260) and the under at (-320).
This is both Wilder's toughest challenge and his biggest stage to date as Wilder looks to convince the world that he is a viable Heavyweight candidate. It is important to note that the line has tightened a bit, as Wilder opened roughly a (-1300) favorite.
Two other bouts on the main card are also getting attention at the sport books.
Also in 12 round Heavyweight action, this time with the vacant IBF World title on the line Vyachelsav Glazkov is a slim (-160) favorite over Charles Martin, who is at (+140).
This is interesting because Martin still remains a relative unknown on the Heavyweight scene, but he goes into this fight with considerable advantages in height, weight and reach.
One of the feature fights comes at Middleweight over 10 rounds as undefeated (21-0) Maciej Sulecki takes on veteran Derrick Findley (22-17-1). Sulecki comes in a comfortable (-1200) favorite, with the comeback on Findley paying at (+600).
The card features 10 fights in all, including a ten rounder that sees the vacant WBO World Female Lightweight title up for grabs between Brooklyn's own Amanda Serrano (26-1-1) and Helen Joseph (12-3-1).
Check back closer to fight time to see if lines have been posted for the Serrano-Joseph and the rest of the card. That is the review of the current odds for Wilder vs Szpilka, here at The Boxing Channel.
