Cotto vs Kamegai Saturday’s Forgotten Fight – When it was announced, Miguel Cotto versus Yoshihiro Kamegai at the StubHub Center on August 26th was set to be the “A”  fight of the weekend. The return of Puerto Rico’s Cotto, one of the biggest draws in boxing over the last decade, to the Golden Boy promotional banner was heralded as a portent of bigger things to come. Then Floyd Mayweather Jr announced his return for the same day and little has been said about Cotto vs Kamegai since.

Nevertheless, the show must go on and GBP has put together a strong set of support fights that includes a second world title fight as a co-feature. Cotto versus Kamegai is for the vacant WBO 154 pound title while WBC world super bantamweight champion Rey Vargas faces tough, once beaten Ronny Rios with his belt on the line.
