Guillermo Rigondeaux Talks Controversy – Undefeated super bantamweight Guillermo Rigondeaux (19-0) and Moises Flores (25-0) locked horns on June 17th as the co-feature bout on HBO’s Andre Ward vs Sergey Kovalev rematch.
Rigondeaux and Flores were nearing the end of the first round when controversy struck. With the referee separating the two men and with both men throwing punches, the bell rang. Flores swung wide but Rigondeaux connected on a punch to Flores’ chin that ended the fight. The NSAC struggled in the aftermath to make a decision, eventually settling on a win for Rigondeaux. On Monday, June 26th, the verdict was changed to “no-decision.”
