First match: Wesley Diana defeated Envicil Dixon by unanimous decision in a four round bout. Scorecards: 39-37; 40-36; 40-36. This bout opened the curtain of the event that will be headlined by Mikey Garcia against Robert Easter Jr.
Second fight: Brandon Ganton finished Daniel Najera by knockout in three rounds. The official time was 1:35. Ganton started the day with the right foot and from the first bell he did his work with strong blows and combinations directed to the body of Najera, who tried to counteract the situation as best he could.
Fourth clash: Filipino Ray Pérez surprised American Robert Marroquin by stopping him in the eighth round. The official time was 1:03.
Perez was not the favorite, but he was able to turn the fight around and annul Marroquin, who was out-boxed by his Filipino opponent. When it seemed that it would go to the cards, a strong blow came from Pérez to the face of Marroquin, leaving Marroquin in bad condition and forcing the referee to stop the fight
Fifth fight: In the women’s fight of the nigh,t Lina Licona won by unanimous decision in 4 rounds over Judit Hachbold. Scorecards: 40-36; 40-36; 40-36. Hachbold provided little opposition as Licona easily turned her away to win her second pro fight.
Sixth clash: Carlos “King” Balderas overcame the most difficult test of his career before stopping Giovanni Caro by technical knockout at the 2:09 mark of the fourth round. Caro was overtaken by the youth and boxing of Balderas who demolished him little until the referee decided to stop the fight.
Seventh fight: Fabián Maidana defeated Andrey Klimov by knockout in the seventh round. Maidana controlled the fight from the beginning, throwing blows to the body and face of Klimov who had no answer and was knocked out forcefully. The time was 2:32. With this victory Maidana improves its record to 16-0 (12 KO’s).
Eighth bout: Jerry Perez stopped Aaron Hollis at the 1:34 mark of round two. Perez looked like everything a hunter and Hollis as the prey. The Californian sent his rival to the canvas on three occasions before shooting him down in one of the best performances of the evening.
Ninth fight: Jose Balderas, the brother of Carlos Balderas, defeated Alfredo Chanez by unanimous decision in four rounds. Scorecards: 40-35; 40-35; 40-35. Balderas dominated the fight at will and made a great presentation.
Tenth bout: Mario Barrios won the Inter-Continental welterweight title by scoring an eighth round technical knockout over José Román. Barrios began the fight with patience and controlled the action. He sent his rival to the canvas in the fourth round and again in the eighth. With the victory, Barrios upped his record to 22-0 (14 KO’S).
Eleventh match: The Cuban Luis “King Kong” Ortiz knocked out the Romanian Razvan Cojanu in the second round. The time was 2:08.
Ortiz won the first round, landing clear and concrete blows as he stalked his opponent. At the start of the second round he again stalked his rival until he found him with a right and left shot to finish the action.
Twelfth fight: Mikey Garcia defeated Robert Easter Jr., by unanimous decision to become the new unified lightweight champion of the WBC and IBF. Scorecards: 116-111; 117-110; 118-109.
