Sergey Kovalev Talks About His Next Opponent Igor Mikhalkin – Saturday, March 3rd sees the return of WBO world light heavyweight champion Sergey “Krusher” Kovalev (31-2-1, 27 KOs) defending his belt against Igor Mikhalkin (21-1-0, 9 KOs) who is recognized as a world champion by one of the fringe organizations. The fight takes place at the Madison Square Garden Theater and will be on air by HBO.
Mikhalkin puts his 10-bout winning streak on the line as he steps up to challenge one of the most fearsome punchers in professional boxing. Kovalev regained the WBO title with a second round stoppage of Vyacheslav Shabranskyy (19-2-0, 16 KOs) in his last match. Kovalev knocked Shabranskyy down three times before it was stopped.
