Latin Prospect Watch With Diego Morilla (Panama) – In this fourth installment of our “Latin Prospect Watch” we have Diego Morilla live in studio to look at the top three prospects from fight-hungry Panama.
Tiny Panama has become a hub for boxing in Central America, with a rugged local scene that sees Panamanian boxers start their careers early in most cases. The country supports a high level of boxers as well, with several fighters capturing world titles. The infrastructure n Panama has also lured many boxers from the region to look to advance their careers with a move to Panama.
#1 Johnathan Miniel – Trained by Rigoberto Garibaldi, at Pedro “Rockero” Alcázar’s gym in Curundú, Panama. Miniel has been working his way through the amateur ranks.
#2 Orlando Martinez – Trains with former pro Juan Mosquera at “Créditos Latinos Gym” in Panama, which is owned by promoter Rogelio Espino.
#3 Rafael Pedroza – The youngster Pedroza is the only fighter on the list with pro experience, going 4-0 so far since leaving the amateur ranks behind. He also comes with pedigree as his father is the former WBA super flyweight champion of the same name.
