The Atlantic City Boxing Hall of Fame Elects 25 New Members – The Atlantic City Boxing Hall of Fame celebrates its second Induction Weekend June 1-3 with The Claridge serving at the host property. TSS mainstay Bernard Fernandez and 4x heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield are among the 25 inductees in six categories entering the Hall in the Class of 2018.
During Induction Weekend, three live boxing events will be staged across three different venues at the famed seaside resort. A Friday show at The Claridge features Derrick Webster (25-1) opposing Oscar Riojas (16-9-1) in a 10-round contest in the super middleweight division. That same night at the Showboat, welterweight Jaron “Boots” Ennis (19-0) opposes veteran Mike Arnaoutis (26-10-2). A hot prospect from Philadelphia, the 20-year-old Ennis has won his last eight by stoppage. Saturday’s card, presented by Holyfield’s Real Deal Promotions, will be staged at historic Boardwalk Hall. The main event pits Toka Kahn Clary (24-1) against Emmanuel Rodriguez (22-6-2) in a 10-round featherweight match.
The inaugural Atlantic City Boxing Hall of Fame Induction Weekend in 2017 was judged a great success. More than 500 people attended one or more of the events. The organizers anticipate an even larger turnout this year.
Hall of Fame Induction Weekend kicks off Friday at 5 PM with the VIP Opening Belt Meet and Greet in the Art Gallery on the lower level of The Claridge and runs through Sunday evening, June 3, when the honorees are feted in the hotel’s Celebrity Theater.
